The pact campaign this week is above all something for many years of Warcraft fans. Nostalgia pure and lots of flashbacks.
In World of Warcraft, a new quest strand of the campaign is released every week. Even if many players does not fit the piecewise unlock, I liked that kind of time gating found. But something else like this week is extremely good - the quest series around one of the most famous WoW characters finally finds a (preliminary) degree.
Spoiler warning: This article is about the current WOW Campaign: Shadowlands. Who does not want to know how it works, should not read more.
This week, it's about restoring the seal of Kyrians. But even if that is the goal of the quest, there is another character that is in focus: Uther Light Bringer. He has known since Shadowlands as Kyrians and one of the co-founders of the "spurned" - Kyrians who still have their memories and therefore be plagued by doubts and concern.
The mission begins with a visit to Torghast. There, the missing piece of Uther's soul is expected to be needed to heal the wound. Already here are first, cool details in the quest. Because there is not only a piece of Uthers soul to find, but Blizzard also has installed allusions to other characters that were once set out by Arthas and Frostgram.
Although the soul fragments have no clear name, but longtime WOW fans know immediately who is behind the designations:
- The betrayed father (Terenas Menethil II)
- The Champion of Peace (Gavingrad)
- The Golden King (Anasterian Sunwanderer)
- The Archmagier Mentor (Antonidas)
- Grossmagister (Belo'vir Salonar)
- The Blood County (Blood County Lana'thel)
- The holy lifeworker (Halahk)
- The Guardian of Naxxramas (Sapphiron)
These are only small details on the edge of the quest, but for Lore fans like me, the much of the atmosphere does. That Blizzard still thinks of all these characters, and be it only through small soul crystals on the edge, makes me satisfied.
Although the quest series continues to continue the story of Uther, there are numerous flashbacks and memories from Uthers past to consider. So you can see Uther as he is sworn away as the first paladin of the silver hand and prescribes the virtues of light.
Later, there are other scenes: the purification of Stratholme, private lessons with Arthas and the crucial fight in Lordaeron, which Uhr ultimately costs life and robs him a piece of his soul.
At least in the English version, Uthher's voice completely carries the experience completely. The remorse he shows that he has thrown Arthas in the Schlund, the realization that he acted against one of the virtues of the light - that everything is transported over the setting and the sound backdrop wonderful.
For me, this quest series is one of the best that Shadowlands has to offer and that is very uncropol without a "is not difficult at Shadowlands". She was fun and as Lore-Nerd was in the end especially one: satisfied.
More about World of Warcraft is here:
* I have fun at World of Warcraft, even if the world is against it * New WoW-Cinematic shows Tyrande's most important decision * After months of the complaint, players now have too much anima
Also in the subreddit of World of Warcraft the quest series is praised. There likes to criticize the "Bad Writing" of Shadowlands, but the current Uther quest series is well received by many players. So writes about FlyingePeto:
Das felt like the natural continuation of a story that has been well developed since the start of the expansion, in contrast to this bad version of Infinity was for arms .
I also liked the interactions from the last week, between the nightfare and the Venthyr, the kind of how they think differently about things and that showed in their dialogues. Whoever writes these secondary stories, makes a good job. Everything that does not belong to the main quest series is pretty good and feels like it was really trouble .
I personally like the main quest series, but still it is nice if other players fallen to the current missions.
If you like Uther and want to have a small nostalgia flashback, the pact campaign should definitely play this week. It is worth it - also because of the grandiose setting of Uther.
