A breakdown in PS Store led that PS4 players could download various games like Resident Evil 7, Final Fantasy XV or Battlefield 1 for free. The speech is from the PS Plus Collection, which is directed to owners of a PlayStation 5.
The Resetera user Nolifebr has downloaded the demo version of Resident Evil 7. When he wanted to buy the full version in the shop, he could download this thanks to his PS plus membership for free - though he plays on the PS4. The same has also worked for other games of the collection that own a demo version.
As a result, other users reported to speak that his approach successfully completed. Apparently, this bug has occurred both in North America and in Europe.
The error has been fixed now
Before you tried the whole thing: In the meantime, Sony Interactive Entertainment has already fixed the technical mistake. All affected demo pages are no longer callable. If you call one of the pages about the browser, you will be directed to an error page.
Whether users are allowed to keep the free games for free is rather unlikely. Sony's responsible persons can trace the user activities and lock access to the full version.
